Christian Charity brand agency

IE is an award-winning brand and digital agency for Charity, Health and Education. In 1994, our very first client was a Christian charity (Agapé UK) and since then, we’ve worked with dozens of faith-based clients – helping them to engage with their audiences and increase their impact and reach.

Making a difference for 25 years.

L’Arche is building a world where people with and without intellectual disabilities are friends and equals. Their diverse global community has been living together, working together, and learning from one another, for nearly sixty years.

The charity needed a rebrand and a new website, and IE was only too happy to help.

Working across multiple languages, cultures and contexts, IE approached our challenges with sensitivity, skill, and insight: to help us re-articulate our core proposition.
The resulting messaging and visual identity have helped to increase unity internationally and will allow us to harness the combined power of our global brand for the first time.
They have also been extremely supportive, helpful and easy to work with!

Prior to investing a significant sum in a national campaign to raise brand awareness in the UK and Ireland, Christian Aid commissioned IE to undertake a brand audit and a top-level response to the proposed campaign strategy.

The work was effectively a high level 'sense check' in order to ensure that this household name, £100m+ charity was as well prepared as possible to optimise the impact of an omni channel, above and below the line marketing campaign to drive up awareness of the critically important work of the charity.

IE delivered a succinct and astute evaluation of the challenges facing our brand. They clearly have a passion for their work, combined with a really helpful mix of charity and wider market knowledge.

Clergy Support Trust helps Anglican clergy and their families in times of need. They offer grants and wellbeing support to members of the clergy (including ordinands and retired clergy), as well as their dependants and partners – whether married, separated or widowed.

Explore our award-winning rename and rebrand for Clergy Support Trust (formerly Sons & Friends of the Clergy).

IE Brand came on board at a time of considerable change for our 364-year old charity, which supports Anglican clergy and their families. Our old brand was part of our history, but was no longer relevant or accessible to today’s clergy. IE Brand helped with stakeholder engagement and in establishing the case for change through beneficiary research. We’re delighted with our new name and visual identity, which will enable us to reach more clergy families in need. We were impressed with the IE team, and have also now entrusted them with redesigning our website.

Church of England member of the clergy

The Church of England plays a vital role in the life of the nation, proclaiming the Christian gospel in words and actions. Its network of parishes cover the country, strengthening community life in numerous urban, suburban and rural settings.

The Church's Vocations Team approached IE Brand to commission a resource to help people to consider their calling – with the specific goal of widening diversity: encouraging more young people; more women; and more black, Asian and minority ethnic people to consider entering the ministry.

The result was an understated, typographically classical brochure covering everything from priesthood to monasticism, character attributes to the application process. Text was interspersed with stereotype-challenging photographs including a young Asian woman Vicar in a skate park, a pastiche of Michelangelo's The Last Supper with a diverse group of theological students studying at a long table, a black priest administering communion in the historic environ of Southwark Cathedral and the Archbishop of Canterbury washing feet at a festival.

CHIPS new charity brand by IE Brand – poster on bus stop

CHIPS (Christian International Peace Service) is a charity that joins with communities from both sides of a conflict – from Brixton to Ghana – to help build sustainable futures free from violence and division.

    Explore how we rebranded CHIPS.

Our brand and identity are the key to communicating our personality, and if truth be told, were in dire need of a spruce-up. We ran the risk of being overlooked as out-of-touch and irrelevant, even as the work we do – with real people, in real communities – becomes even more needed.

We chose IE Brand for their branding expertise and thorough, considered approach to the process. They were excellent at guiding our team, and challenging us where we needed to be challenged. We felt in very safe hands and thoroughly enjoyed working with their team and seeing the new brand and design emerge. IE Brand's wise, high-quality work to rebrand CHIPS will lead to a step-change for the charity. We’ll now be able to shout louder with less effort. It’s a great investment in the future. Awesome work!

    Serving in Mission brand

As the UK branch of SIM, Serving in Mission is an international, interdenominational Christian mission agency with more than 1,600 missionaries serving in over 60 countries.

Initially founded 100 years ago as the Sudan Interior Mission, SIM UK – as it had become known – was struggling to meaningfully engage with a younger and increasingly digital-savvy world, and brand recognition was poor.

IE Brand carried out a market positioning/competitor analysis exercise to help SIM UK work through the pros and cons of a renaming and rebranding exercise. Following stakeholder research and positioning analysis, IE renamed, rebranded and repositioned SIM as Serving in Mission. We developed a new multi-channel digital strategy focused on exposing stories of transformation with on and off line calls to action around “Go,” “Pray,” and “Give”.

Heythrop College brand and website by IE

Part of the University of London, Heythrop College was established in 1612 and provides undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in philosophy and theology. They were re-expressing their course offerings to fit more closely with students’ needs, and wanted a new brand and website to help communicate that to potential students.

IE Brand reviewed Heythrop’s internal research to summarise the top line brand, and agreed a vision for the college’s identity. We repositioned Heythrop from a conservative Catholic college of theology and philosophy, to a vibrant college of the University of London, thus attracting and moulding students to change their world.

IE introduced new, intriguing images and messages to bring the personality of the college to life on and offline. We also evolved the school’s crest and modified the typography to align it more closely to that of University of London. The college's fresh new website had a stunning user experience to help students find the information they need.

Agapé t-shirt in the new brand

For over 50 years, Agapé UK has been inspiring people to discover Jesus together, at home, at work, at university, and abroad. As the UK arm of an international Christian charity, active in over 190 countries, they're bringing people together and transforming lives.

IE originally worked with Agapé back in the 90s, when we were first founded. We're delighted to have rekindled that relationship to rebrand the charity and create a modern new website.

We knew that IE would bring expertise, insight, and creativity to our branding challenge. What we didn’t expect was how excellent the team would be at helping us to see where we could improve our practices across the whole of Agapé UK – they really listened well to us and our stakeholders, and were sensitive to our needs as an organisation.

Our new branding is excellent, and it has been a breath of fresh air for me personally and our staff as a whole. It’s such an encouragement to be able to describe what we do so clearly, and to know that our brand identity reflects who we are as an organisation: discovering Jesus together, at home, at work, at university, and abroad. I am so thankful to have worked with IE – they were the right people at the right time.
