What is an Infographic?
At its most basic, an information graphic, better known as an ‘infographic’, is a pictorial representation of data and information. But an infographic is more than that - it's about colour, movement and bringing text and numbers to life.
With the majority of information transmitted to the brain being visual – an infographic makes your key statistics visually engaging and ultimately more memorable. Infographics can help to bring data to life, and are remarkably effective in breaking down large research projects into smaller chunks – helping audiences to better understand the content, and aiding engagement and legibility.
The job of a ‘great’ infographic is to recognise which pieces of information are enhanced by being represented pictographically. Infographics should never just be an image sitting next to text, they have to work together to tell a wider story.
