Ollie’s Charity Marathon Success

Rarely should the sentence, “IE’s MD, Ollie Leggett, walked into the studio bright and early on Tuesday morning, following the bank holiday” constitute the start of a blog post. But this was no ordinary Tuesday – as Ollie had completed a marathon in Scotland less than 48 hours earlier.

In blustery rain then glorious sunshine last Sunday, Ollie completed his first marathon in a really impressive time – just shy of three and a half hours. Ollie was running the marathon as part of IE’s ‘Give Campaign’ in aid of Trident Reach the People Charity, a Midlands based charity that Ollie’s been a Trustee of for the past couple of years which supports vulnerable and socially excluded people.

Ollie’s marathon fundraising efforts have received a huge amount of support and he has already raised over £1600, more than doubling the target set before the race. A big thank you to all who have supported him!

Following the marathon, a pleased and somewhat knackered Ollie said:

“A huge thank you to everyone who has already given so generously. I'm delighted to report that not only have we smashed the fundraising target for Reach, but also managed to do far better than expected with my finish time of 3:31:59! Very happy with that. Thanks again, one and all. Your support was invaluable. Couldn't have done it without you.”

The IE team also did our bit to support Ollie’s cause through sponsorship and by raising money through a charity bake sale.

Following this recent accomplishment, Ollie is now turning his attention to the Birmingham Half Marathon in October, where he will again lead a team of IE runners around the course. If you’d like to join ‘Team Reach’ he’d love to hear from you.
